Epcot. It's the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. This Disney destination has stayed true to Walt Disney's original vision since it opened its doors in 1982. Over the years, exhibits and attractions have been moved or updated or replaced, and when this happens, guests have had a whole range of emotions.
Today was no exception, as Disney revealed plans to update, refresh and enhance a number of areas at Epcot over the next few years.
The list was long, with brand new attractions, entertainment and dining revealed.
Visitors to Epcot later this year will be able to visualize all of these changes at a new Experience Centre in the former Odyssey Pavilion, featuring interactive exhibits to help us all visualize these changes.
Here's a quick list of the changes and enhancements that are coming:
A brand new play pavilion will be built in the former Wonder of Life pavilion (former home of Body Wars and Cranium Command, this is the dome located between Mission: SPACE and the now closed Universe of Energy. This pavilion will include interactive experiences, Disney character encounters, hands-on activities and entertainment. (Planned for opening in time for Walt Disney World's 50th Anniversary in 2021.)
Changes to the main entrance are planned, with new pathways in this popular plaza, sweeping green spaces and a newly imagined fountain. The "Leave a Legacy" photos and display will move to a beautiful setting just outside the park entrance.
Significant development will occur between Spaceship Earth and the World Showcase Promenade. More details on this are to come!
Wow! What do you think? Are you as excited about all of these new experiences coming to Epcot as I am? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
