When I opened up my Disney travel agents portal this morning, I was delighted to find all kinds of new information about special events, treats, celebrity appearances and nighttime spectacular shows coming to Walt Disney World Resort for the holiday season later on this year. I know, it's only the beginning of the summer season, and already we're talking about Christmas! But that's the way it is in the travel industry, and the Disney Destinations are no exception.
Here's a brief list of what's new for the holiday season at Walt Disney World Resort in 2019!
Dates for this year's Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party are: November 8, 11, 12, 14, 15, 17, 19, 21, 22 and 24 as well as December 1, 3, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 13, 15, 17, 19, 20 and 22.
One of the most sought-after experiences for little ones at Walt Disney World is Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. (Sidenote: It's also one of the most misspelled experiences and I have to check the correct spelling every time I write it down.)
Because it is such a popular experience, reservations at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique can be hard to come by, even though reservations are available to guests 180 days prior to their arrival at Walt Disney World Resort. There are currently two locations, one in Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom and the other at the Disney Springs Marketplace.
It's good news that a third location is being added for Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, just a water taxi ride across the Seven Seas Lagoon from Magic Kingdom. The new location will open this summer.
In addition, the existing location at Magic Kingdom Park will also be expanded to add more chairs, a special magic mirror and a transformation experience that will help young guests choose their perfect outfit and accessories. This location will remain open and existing reservations won't be affected.
So, what is Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, anyway?
The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World 2019 describes Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique as "a salon for girls ages 3-12 that will give your princess hopeful a royal makeover". This is a very simple explanation, but the truth is there are many options available for your kids, ranging from $65 to $450 USD plus tax, for both boys and girls. Fairy Godmothers-in-Training give these magical makeover.
Above you'll see a real-life bibbidi bobbidi makeover on my friend Kate's daughter, Briar, who clearly enjoyed the experience! Kate enjoyed it, too. As she put it, "They sprinkle pixie dust on them when they're done and then make a formal announcement to the entire salon that there is a new princess in the land...it's adorable. Everyone claps. All the other fairy godmothers in training applaud and make a big fuss."
